APP REVIEW: Zen Brush for Android tablets

Zen Brush

A great attempt at replicating the feel of drawing with a calligraphic brush and ink, you'll feel like a zen master in seconds. The only caveat is a lack of features and performance. Read on for more details...

This is more of a toy than a professional drawing tool, as the tool set is limited to only one sizable brush, 3 "colors", limited undo, and fixed paper size. Still, you can probably use the tool to create a cool Japanese letter or some kind of small gestural image or practice your brush calligraphy. If you take it slow, it has a very realistic, analog feel (I tried using it with the Nomad Flex brush stylus on an iPad and it feels very realistic using it) and true to its name is a very "zen" and relaxing experience.

It does what is advertised well, it's cheap, and it's actually quite pleasurable to use. I docked it some stars because it has a limited canvas size, limited tool set, and does pretty crappy sampling at large and fast stroke sizes (given the horsepower of the Toshiba Excite Write, this should not have been a problem).

There are a little over 62 varieties of papers available and a free version to get the feel of it.

In some language, that's probably a dirty word...

... and here's the guy who wrote it.

They should probably have added at least ONE other sample paper
to the free edition, just to really give you a sense of how it works.
